Master Builders Victoria is honoured to announce the recipients of the inaugural Mario Biasin Career Advancement Scholarship and Mario Biasin Leadership Scholarship, which were presented by members of the Biasin family and Viviana Hood of the Building & Construction Foundation, last Friday night at the 2022 MBV Excellence in Housing Awards.

The Mario Biasin Career Advancement Scholarship, supported by Bunnings Trade, has been awarded to Kenneth Lim. An outstanding high achiever, Kenneth made a brave decision to change careers at 29 years of age, with a young child on the way, and enter the building sector as an apprentice carpenter. He successfully completed that apprenticeship in two and a half years and has already been handling small building projects on his own.

The Scholarship will help Kenneth to complete his Builders Registration course and progress with his future career plans.

The Mario Biasin Leadership Scholarship, supported by Incolink, has been awarded to Artrida Veseli. Artrida is currently completing a Bachelor of Applied Science in Project Management, Honours, at RMIT University. She lives independently and is supporting herself through her full-time studies, so receiving this scholarship will ease some of her worries around supporting herself financially and balancing her studies and part-time work.

Atrida dreams of having her own building company one day, and we have no doubt she will achieve this goal.

Mario Biasin was the joint founder and CEO of Metricon and sadly passed away earlier this year. He is widely recognised for the immense contribution he made to the building and construction industry and he was also a passionate advocate for our sector.

MBV is proud to support this initiative, in partnership with the Building & Construction Foundation, Bunnings Trade and Incolink, by continuing Mario's legacy through the awarding of these scholarships - assisting these deserving recipients to progress in their careers in the building and construction industry.
