We would like to advise MBV members in the Bendigo Region of a new industry initiative in your local area.

Energy Safe Victoria (ESV), WorkSafe, the Victorian Building Authority (VBA), and Environment Protection Authority Victoria (EPA) have joined forces to make sure the state’s construction and demolition industries are meeting safety, environmental, building, and plumbing compliance obligations.

Over the past four years, Build Aware has targeted regional areas, including Shepparton, Bairnsdale, Ballarat, Wodonga, Geelong, and Warrnambool.

The initiative will focus on the Bendigo area, ensuring the sector understands its compliance obligations during the 7-11 of March 2022.

The regulators from these bodies will inspect building, construction, and demolition sites assessing the following:

  • ESV will address machinery operators working near overhead and underground electrical assets.
  • WorkSafe will focus on the dangers of high-risk construction work, including working at heights and the control measures needed to prevent injuries and fatalities on site.
  • VBA will be checking building and plumbing works as part of its Proactive Inspections Program, which aims to reduce non-compliant building and plumbing work.
  • EPA will look at the responsibilities of construction and demolition industries when it comes to waste management at building sites.

Visit the VBA, Worksafe Victoria, ESV, and EPA websites for more information.

If your site is inspected and you have concerns or would like to provide feedback, you can contact the Master Builders Advisory Team. Please call the office on 03 9411 4555 or email [email protected].
