MBV would like to remind members that the current Mobile Vaccine Booster Program, led by Incolink (industry entitlement fund) is continuing this week, at multiple commercial constructions sites across Victoria. This program is delivered via the set-up of mobile vaccination hubs, making it easier and faster for building and construction workers to get access to the booster vaccination.

Following the success of Incolink's on-site vaccination program in 2021, this similar program will offer booster vaccination for up to 25,000 construction workers, on-site.  (Most of these workers will become eligible for their booster vaccination over the next month.)

The booster vaccinations are administered by Australian Prostate Clinic staff, who are attending sites to deliver the vaccination in the same way as a community vaccine hub, pharmacy, or GP clinic.

Construction workers as a cohort work long hours and are less likely than other populations to seek medical assistance. This initiative has been created to make it easier for workers to get their booster vaccination, firstly to help protect their health, and to help reduce the risk of disruptions to building and construction projects caused by labour shortages and shutdowns.

The program will also decrease the pressure on State-run vaccination centres and healthcare providers.

Launched as a joint effort and supported by key industry associations, unions, employers, and government – this program is designed to directly help combat the spread of Omicron.

MBV would like to commend our members for heeding the call-to-action for vaccination last year.

We would however also remind you that ‘this is not over yet’. We strongly urge you to help facilitate this program and to encourage and support your employees to get their booster vaccination as soon as they become eligible.
