Have you registered for Master Builders’ 2014 Members Conference? This year’s event will be held at the Pullman, Albert Park from Thursday, 27 February to Friday, 28 February and features a range of quality industry, political and inspirational speakers. Feel free to come for all or part of the conference – choose the events that interest you most.

Here’s some good reasons why you don’t want to miss it:

1. Be informed about the industrial relations landscape.

Federal Employment Minister, Senator Eric Abetz, will be on hand to provide a keynote presentation entitled Restoring order to our national industrial relations framework. This is one area of our sector that will be going through some major changes this year with the restoration of the ABCC and Royal Commission into the construction industry. Commercial members will not want to miss this.

2. You’ll get an insight into what lies ahead for our economy.

Senior Economist with Bank of Melbourne, Hans Kunnen will discuss economics, focusing on what lies ahead for the construction sector. This is a valuable ‘crystal ball’ talk that will help your business take advantage of current market conditions.

3. Have your planning questions answered.

Join the panel discussion Getting the balance right between planning laws and project delivery to hear from Metropolitan Planning Authority CEO Peter Seamer, Australand GM Robert Pradolin and Director of Clause 1: Town Planning Consultant Ashley Thompson.

4. Have some fun with cricketing legend David Boon.

Known as the great ‘Boony’ – David Boon will host the opening night dinner where he will entertain guests in what promises to be a fun filled evening.

5. Be inspired by Winter Olympic Gold Medallist Stephen Bradbury OAM.

Winning gold at the 2002 Winter Olympics has made Bradbury something of a folk hero. His victory was the essence of the underdog mentality, that never say die attitude that is so quintessentially Australian. In his speech Meeting today’s challenges, Bradbury will inspire and motivate you to achieve your best.

6. Learn about the State Government’s investment priorities in building and construction

Michael O’Brien MP, Treasurer of Victoria, will provide an insight into ways the State Government is looking to stimulate investment into non-residential construction. If you undertake government work or are interested in doing so, make sure you’re there.

7. Golf and network to your heart’s content.

The Members Conference will start with a round of golf on the Brighton Golf Course and will conclude with farewell drinks. Combined with the dinners and lunches in between, there are ample opportunities to mingle and network with other attendees and speakers to help improve your understanding of what is happening in your sector.
