Master Builders Victoria (MBV) CEO Rebecca Casson has congratulated Daniel Andrews and the Victorian Labor Party on their election victory at the weekend.

“MBV congratulates Daniel Andrews on being re-elected Victorian Premier at this critical post-pandemic time in our state’s history,” Ms Casson said.

Ms Casson said MBV looked forward to working collaboratively with the Andrews Labor Government, the Opposition, and members of the Legislative Council in the 60th Parliament of Victoria.

“As the leading body for building and construction in Victoria, MBV will continue to work with the Andrews Labor Government to implement its election promises, to ensure the pipeline of building and construction work continues, increasing the diversity, equity, and inclusion of women in building and construction, and address housing affordability,” Ms Casson said.

“It’s important to ensure that the state’s building and construction work pipeline continues to further support and grow the Victorian economy post-COVID-19.”

She said MBV would continue to be a trusted advisor of the Government to ensure that our industry’s priorities are at the forefront of the Government’s agenda, including:

  • Strengthening the supply chain.
  • Contract relief in both the commercial and residential sectors.
  • Increasing skilled migration and supporting more apprentices.
  • Reducing the taxation burden on housing.
  • Greater urban densification and land supply.
  • Investment into the circular economy for building and construction.
  • The appointment of a dedicated Building, Infrastructure and Construction Minister.

Ms Casson thanked Liberal Leader Matthew Guy and the Liberal/National Coalition for working constructively with the building and construction industry during Victoria’s state election campaign and wished him and his party well for the future.
