It’s that time of the year again, that is, the time to decide whether you’re going to keep those New Year’s resolutions you made at the stroke of midnight. Wanted to become a registered builder in 2015? Well, here’s your chance.

Getting registered can be a difficult and time-consuming process, but Master Builders can assist you along the way.

Firstly, you need to ensure you have the sufficient experience and knowledge in the construction industry that the Building Practitioners Board requires. This generally includes a minimum of three years of practical construction experience (to the satisfaction of the Board) plus knowledge in Business and Financial Management, Building Technology, Operational Management and OHS, Supervisory Management, Legislation, and Contracts. You can gain this knowledge by completing the CPC40110 Certificate IV in Building & Construction (Building) course, or by completing individual clusters, which focus on the specific knowledge areas that you need.

Study can be quite time consuming, and may also be a bit daunting if you’ve not done this since leaving school.  But there’s no need to stress, at Master Builders we assess your learning skills before you commence and provide a Learning Support Officer whose role it is to assist you throughout your studies.

So now is the time to get started. Work may have quietened down over the festive season and you have some extra time up your sleeve. If work is still steady, you can choose to attend evening classes.

Master Builders has scheduled several courses this year with weekday, evening and weekend options to fit around work (or play) time. Courses are starting every month from January in East Melbourne, South Melbourne, Mornington, Clayton, Geelong and Bendigo. View the CPC40110 Certificate IV in Building & Construction (Building) timetable here.

Generous government funding opportunities for training courses are now available and you may be eligible.

If you’ve already completed your CPC40110 Certificate IV in Building & Construction (Building), or have the required knowledge, Master Builders can assist you with the registration process.  Over the last 12 months, with the assistance of Master Builders, more than 110 Master Builders members have successfully gained their Domestic or Commercial registration and many more members are currently underway with the process.

Make the most of the Master Builders services that have helped these members to succeed, including registration workshops, templates for required supporting documents, review of your application before lodgement with the Building Practitioners Board and assistance to prepare for your assessment.
