Workplace Relationships & Incident Response

This course is delivered and assessed by Master Builders Association of Victoria (RTO no 3935). Successful participants will be issued with a Statement of Attainment by Master Builders Association of Victoria, (RTO no 3935).

Course Overview

This short course is suitable for individuals who have work health and safety responsibilities in addition to their main responsibilities. Specifically, the skills and knowledge required to:

  • Prevent the emergency situations or to minimise their consequences. This applies to a range of emergencies and describes what to do before an emergency service and/or specialist response team arrives; it does not include the specific use of equipment to prevent facility emergency situations.
  • Respond to workplace incidents according to OHS legislative and organisational requirements.
  • Display safety leadership skills.

Attendees will learn to:

  • Effectively identify, monitor and report on situations which may lead to facility emergencies
  • Correct any situations that could prevent facility emergencies being properly handled
  • Contribute to implementing response procedures during an incident
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of recommendations arising from an incident
  • Respond appropriately to people with a diverse background
  • Work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Effectively make informed decisions
  • Develop trust within the team
  • Manage difficult situations

Simulation Learning

Using our state-of-the-art Building Leadership Simulation Centre (BLSC), this course includes a unique simulated learning experience. Set up as a realistic construction site, participants are immersed into real-life scenarios, typical of construction workplaces, giving you the opportunity to practice new competencies in a controlled environment. This simulation activity is assessed.

Note: This short course forms part of the BSB30719 Certificate III in Work Health and Safety along with the Introduction to Health and Safety and Communication and Consultation short courses. In order to ensure you have the required legal and regulatory knowledge for this course, it is highly recommended that you complete Introduction to Health and Safety first.
