This course is designed for new designated workplace first aiders in the building and construction industry. This delivery method is only available for individual companies seeking to undertake training for a group of their employees. To undertake this blended program participants must enrol one month in advance of the scheduled date of the practical training and assessment. A theory workbook will be provided and must be completed, returned to the assessor and marked as competent before attendance is permitted at the session. This requirement will be strictly applied.
Some of the topics covered include responsibility of the first aider, infection control, bleeding and shock, angina, fractures, sort tissue injuries, head injuries, epilepsy, heart attack, seizures, asthma, poisoning, burns, safety and injury prevention, fainting, diabetes, eye injuries, sprains, unconsciousness.
Students will be required to demonstrate competent CPR on an adult and infant manikin, participate in two first aid scenarios, apply first aid procedures for a variety of first aid conditions and complete a written knowledge assessment.
