Bowens RdS article thumb October 2017About this time last year, Master Builders was named Small Training Provider of the Year by the Victorian government. It was a great way to have our expertise recognised. Since that time, we have continued to adjust, refresh and update our training opportunities to keep us at the leading edge of continuing education for builders.

The fundamental role of our training department is to help our members run successful building and construction businesses. We understand that our members are often time-poor, since running a business of any size is challenging and maintaining work-life balance is critical. For that reason, we’ve increased the number of short courses we deliver to provide relevant training in locations closer to home.

We now offer ‘Waterproofing in Construction’, a new range of short courses. Each three-hour session provides students with a practical, common-sense approach to using Australian Standards and gaining a deeper understanding of the critical stages of installing waterproofing systems. We offer four different sessions:

• Internal waterproofing – domestic wet areas
• External waterproofing – desks and planter boxes
• Below-ground waterproofing – barriers, components and drainage
• Waterproofing membrane selection – membranes, primers and sealants

In addition, we offer Building Information Modelling (BIM) – as a new short course designed to provide students with an introduction to this relatively new technology. BIM is a process that uses 3D modelling software to create and manage all aspects of a construction project; it is becoming increasingly popular due to its results in time and cost savings on construction projects. Students can learn more about BIM in a short, three-hour workshop.

Keep in mind we offer a range of short courses and workshops to help you increase your productivity, expand your skill sets or improve occupational health and safety systems within your business. Examples of these include MS Project, Mental Health First Aid, CPR, Green Card, Non-Friable Asbestos Awareness and several others you can find at mbavtraining.com.au.

Master Builders now delivers our award -winning training in 13 locations around Victoria including: East Melbourne, South Melbourne, Dandenong, Mill Park, Frankston, Ringwood, Bendigo, Ballarat, Shepparton, Traralgon, Bairnsdale, Wodonga and Geelong. We also deliver on-site programs to larger groups.

If there is a course you’d like us to deliver, we’d love to hear about it. Please contact our training team on (03) 9411 4555 to share your ideas.
