Some members have shared with us stories of their difficulty explaining to Victoria Police that their travel and meetings with clients are necessary and permitted under the current government restrictions.

Master Builders Victoria can confirm that, on advice from the Victorian Chief Health Officer, clients are still permitted to attend private appointments to view display homes and to meet with builders and consultants to make decisions.  We have received confirmation from the State Government that Victoria Police will continue to enforce rules in accordance with this interpretation. We appreciate and support the great work that Victoria Police and DHHS are doing to protect our community.

To help facilitate a solution for instances when a member or member's client might be questioned, we have developed template letters - exclusively for members of Master Builders Victoria. These letters provide evidence of the legitimacy of your activity in the event you are questioned by Victoria Police while performing your work.

Please note that the template letters should not be interpreted as a ‘free pass’ for the letter holder(s) to travel anywhere at any time for any reason. They should be used in appropriate circumstances only and while in full compliance with all hygiene and social distancing requirements. It is important to understand that the final determination of legitimacy remains the prerogative of Victoria Police.

To obtain the letter templates, please call Master Builders Victoria during business hours on (03) 9411 4555 or e-mail [email protected]
