Mort has spent his life building more than just structures—he’s shaped the very foundations of Australia’s building and construction industry.

From his early days as an Air Force engineer to following the rich building and carpentry history entrenched in his family, Mort went on to lead one of the nation’s largest building firms. Becoming known throughout his career as Mr “Spaceline Homes” and the “darling” of VCAT building list members, Mort’s legacy spans more than 50 years, over 10,000 homes, successful legislative and regulatory advocacy, and decades of service within Master Builders Victoria.

As a builder, mediator, advisor, and advocate, his wisdom has guided policy and practice alike. Now, at 100, Mort reflects on a lifetime of impact.
