Virgon Constructions
Special Commendation – Best Multi Unit Development – Up to 3 Units
About the winning project
The quality of construction achieved on the townhouses is on full view from the street. There are sweeping curves across the facade which are the key external feature of the home. During framing, Virgon stick built all of these curved walls with our own Carpentry Team and placed paramount importance on ensuring the radius and stud spacings would accommodate the tight curves designed once cladding and wall linings were installed. Internally, the highlight of the project is the triple level, helical staircase of Townhouse 1. From the very beginning of the project, Virgon worked closely with the architect to ensure that the stair radius was carefully designed to achieve the stringer twist as designed. Curved formwork and concreting was incorporated into the ground floor suspended slab to ensure the stairs finished at the correct location. The stair itself was built using curved pine timber which was manufactured off site and installed without any issues on site.
