About the winning project

This project was designed to reflect the client’s passion for sustainability in construction, something that is part of their larger focus on environmental consciousness. The home is an example of how housing can be energy efficient without compromising design possibilities or the level of finish internally. The project is loaded with features, both functional and aesthetic. It boasts a Nathers Star rating of 8.4 stars and has been submitted to the International Passive House Association (IPHA) to be a Certified Passive House. The house is absolutely independent of imported energy sources, and its facility for creating renewable energy goes beyond the normally low consumption of electricity taken from the grid by homes of similar specification. Thermal insulation provides effective thermal separation between the heated or cooled inside environment and the outdoors.
