About the winning project
Legacy embodied as a meeting place for the Wadawurrung people was central to the design and construction of the Boronggook Drysdale Library. The circular, two-story building features a stunning, landscaped rooftop amphitheatre incorporating local and Indigenous botanical elements, as well as a façade that draws on the material history of Drysdale and the greater Bellarine Peninsula. The project showcases a high performance, environmentally sustainable design and is also a part of the City of Geelong’s UNESCO design city accreditation program.
