An odd-shaped corner allotment was the catalyst for this stunning design, with MJS combating site slope, corner block setback, and design guidelines with set envelopes. The scope was to create a modern Scandinavian style barn house with a central courtyard utilising the northern winter sunlight. The dwelling was to have the key living areas and master bedroom all wrap around this courtyard. While steps in the home were inevitable, owners Hannah and Elmir wanted the central section to equally accessible from all areas, without sacrificing yard space. The result is an understated, picturesque home that ticks all the boxes.
