About the winning project

Construction involved creating two basement levels below the water table, all designated for back-of-house facilities to serve the operational needs of the Hotel Meriton. Given the functional nature of the space for hotel operations rather than parking, Hickory faced a complex challenge in devising a watertight strategy for the basements. Meriton Suites Melbourne is a towering structure spanning 59 levels, occupying a site area of 792sq m.
