Hedger Constructions Pty Ltd
Best Sustainable Home
About the winning project
Having owned this rural block for a number of years, the owners decided that the time had come for a full-time tree change and make a permanent move from the city. Keenly interested in the notion of a sustainable home which would be long lasting in a harsh highland environment, the clients also wanted to ensure that building used higher rated materials than required for the set BAL 12.5 rating. They viewed this as adding to the sustainable nature of the build. The owners held a view that quality over quantity was important in the sustainable nature of the build. Their wish was for a consultative and collaborative approach be taken by all involved in the process in order to “do it right the first time”.
