About the winning project

This was a truly impressive home renovation project which features a modern aesthetic with a new kitchen, living room, study, and double-car garage clad in cedar timber. Expressive steel frames support Victorian Ash Beams, while Maxi Birch Ply lines the interior walls, complementing polished concrete floors. Energy efficiency was prioritised with hydronic heating and insulation. Sustainability was an important focus, with recycled materials chosen and minimal use of high-energy materials. The clients also repurposed off-cuts for furniture. The existing house underwent significant renovations, including a bathroom remodel, heating upgrade, window repairs, rewiring, and repainting. The project seamlessly combines architectural beauty, sustainability, and major functional improvements.
