About the winning project
Designed and built for a professional couple from Melbourne for a tranquil and relaxing beach retreat on the weekends. The design brief stipulated a low-maintenance holiday home that combined functional spaces within a small footprint and to be as sustainable as possible. It is a project that interacts with its environment, capturing solar gains with carefully positioned passive solar design, working to passively heat and cool the home and maintaining a stable and comfortable temperature all year round. Thermally broken double glazing, air tightness, very high insulation levels and thermal mass walls, which all contribute to the energy efficiency of this home.
