About the winning project
California Gully Primary Stage 1 was divided into three distinct portions, with most of the project’s scope concentrated in the second phase, which involved the demolition of the existing courtyard shade structure and the construction of the new community building. It encompassed the creation of openings within the heritage building for modern acoustic doors and the addition of breezeway areas. Fairbrother carpentry undertook the complete reconstruction of the veranda structure, and new ramps and stairways were installed. There were also significant heritage repair works to windows, timber trims, cast corbels, mortar and recladding of the historic bell tower.
