About the winning project
In response to the client’s desire for a warm and inviting home that blends with the natural landscape and captures river views, a unique and compact design was created. Inspired by mid-century modern interiors, the house serves as a sanctuary for relaxation and family gatherings, with flexible living spaces for visitors. The goal was for the house to seamlessly blend into the surroundings, almost disappearing among the trees when viewed from the river. Despite limited space, the design incorporates amenities like caravan storage, a spacious garage, a veggie patch, and an outdoor shower. Inside, there are three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a home office, and ample living space. Overcoming challenges such as flood protection and building height restrictions, the design maximises natural features and showcases stunning river views.
