About the winning project

The owners of the building prioritised energy efficiency and sustainability by incorporating the five Passive House principles into the design. These principles include airtightness, thermal insulation, mechanical ventilation heat recovery, high-performance windows and thermal bridge-free construction. To ensure airtightness, the building envelope was carefully sealed to prevent unwanted air infiltration or exfiltration. The thermal insulation was also carefully selected to minimise heat loss in the winter and heat gain in the summer. Mechanical ventilation with heat recovery was installed to maintain good indoor air quality while minimising energy loss. High-performance windows were used to reduce heat loss and minimise condensation. Finally, thermal bridgefree construction was implemented to ensure that there are no gaps or areas of high heat transfer in the building envelope.
