Approximately 70 people attended the most recent of the annual Master Builders Green Living Conferences, held at the Master Builders training centre on the 8th December. Conference attendees were unanimous in their feedback – the Green Living Conference was viewed by all as a most valuable event. I want to thank those who attended once again for their support during this busy period of the year.

Once again the quality of our training programs has been recognised. Master Builders has been successful in obtaining a State Government grant from the Department of Planning and Community Development in support of our sustainable training programs. Interest in the Master Builders Green Living program in Victoria continues to remain strong with the courses filled well in advance of the start date. The next course in April is already full and the following one in June is filling fast.
PDFThursday, 1 Apr 2010With the looming increase in the energy efficiency requirements of new domestic buildings from 5 to 6 Star, Master Builders has teamed with VicUrban, the Victorian Government’s sustainable urban development agency, to present a series of workshops across Melbourne. These practical workshops will help you to achieve the new 6 star requirements more easily and cost effectively.
PDFMonday, 1 Feb 2010Just over 420 people have now completed the Green Living Training. Information received from Master Builder Green Living Builders from annual reports completed as part of the reaccreditation process indicates that this covers 6830 sites that are not polluting the environment. 89 of these projects have fitted solar panels. This translates to the saving of 213 tonnes of the Greenhouse gas, Carbon Dioxide or 4.3 million black balloons. Other results show that 97 per cent of sites are recycling 69 per cent of their waste. A positive result no matter how you look at it.

At the completion of the current course, just over 400 people will have completed the Green Living course. Master Builders members in Victoria lead the country when it comes to improving their knowledge of sustainable construction and building water and energy efficient homes.

The ultimate goal is to get people to look for a Green Living builder if they are interested in building a greener home.

Wednesday November 25th has been set as the date for the 3rd Annual Green Living workshop. We are still finalising the speakers to present. These will include;
• An update on the changes from 5 to 6 star and tips to make this upgrade as easy as possible.
• Information on the new ranges of energy efficient glass and tips on their use to improve the thermal performance of homes.
PDFThursday, 1 Nov 2007Interest in sustainability continues to remain strong. The last two courses this year have been full well in advance of the first day and the course in February 2008 is already showing strong interest.
