Master Builders welcomes the State Government’s Budget announcements of cuts to Stamp Duty, WorkCover premiums and Land Tax. Master Builders Executive Director, Brian Welch, said today’s Stamp Duty cuts will save Victorian home buyers $13 per fortnight on their home loan repayments.

Retirees to play part in skills shortage solution

A survey of commercial builders has found that recruiting a skilled workforce was the biggest issue preventing the sector from reaching its full potential, supporting calls for more State Government action to address skills shortages. Master Builders Association of Victoria has suggested the State Government introduce innovative measures like the retraining of skilled workers at retirement age so their valuable skills and experience are kept as Registered Trainers.

Master Builders has secured big wins in the Victorian State Budget with cuts to Stamp Duty, WorkCover Premiums, Land Tax and Pay Roll Tax. In Master Builders Pre-Budget Submission to the State Government lodged last year, we called on the Government to cut Stamp Duty and Work Cover Premiums to ease the pressures building on construction businesses across Victoria. In yesterday’s State Budget, our request for business tax relief was answered.
